Alsace and Moselle, have knownfrom 1871 to 1953Atragic fateand too little known... Éric Cénat wanted to confront the complexity, the specificity of this story. In partnership with the AMAM (Association of Friends of the Memorial), in October 2006 it launched a vast collection of poems and letters dating from the period 1939/1953.
Based on rich and varied texts, he imagined an itinerant reading with two voices (male and female), within the different sets and rooms of the Memorial.
The choice of texts allowed them to approach: The last days of peace (August 1939), the evacuation (September 1939), the "phoney war" (September 1939-May 1940), the process of "Germanization", the RAD, the "In spite of us" (the incorporation of force), the Deportation and the camps, the Resistance and the Collaboration, the "smugglers", the total war, the Liberation, the joys and sorrows of the immediate aftermath -war (1945-1946).
At the end of each performance, theLetter from Lucie Primotan extract of which gave the title of our project, is read. Éric Cénat wants each spectator to leave with an envelope inside which is a letter or a poem present during the show.
